Trace of a Trace - Flood Map

category: print

We refused help from a boat, crossing the street with the water waist high. I saw kids in the water, shouted, "get out of there." They refused.
Hunter Lyric's
an essay from the More than Water - Houston Flood Museum
One woman wanted to go back to lock the door of her shop. Her son, who had walked from 610, grabbed her out of the current. He said the Interstate was nothing but water.
Deconstructed elements within the map heighten the analysis of loss and obscurity within Lyric’s essay. This map provides an abstract representation of the devastating aftermath of hurricane Harvey in Houston with the use of water-damaged photographs, watercolor drawings and typography.
